iRacing has officially released Patch 3 for the 2026 Season 2, bringing a comprehensive suite of updates designed to fine-tune the competitive landscape. This release focuses heavily on Balance of Performance (BoP) refinements across multiple car classes and addresses several technical issues within the simulator’s interface.
For sim racers competing in endurance series, this patch is a game-changer, as it adjusts mass, torque, and fuel economy for fan-favorite machinery like the Porsche 911 GT3 R (992), Ferrari 296 GT3, and the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 EVO.
Simulator & UI Enhancements
One of the most notable quality-of-life updates is the addition of an ABS line highlight to the Throttle/Brake Widget. This allows drivers to better visualize when the Anti-lock Braking System is engaging, helping them find the limit more consistently.
Additionally, the development team has squashed several bugs:
- VR Fixes: UI elements are now correctly positioned when loading into VR on specific headsets.
- Visual Patches: The issue causing mirrors to display as black has been resolved.
- Performance: A fix was implemented for a performance drop previously caused by the Results tab.
Balance of Performance (BoP) Changes
The “heart” of Patch 3 lies in the technical rebalancing of the grid to ensure fair competition:
- GT3 Class: Most cars received updated iRacing setups to align with the new BoP.
- Ferrari 296 GT3: Benefits from increased downforce and engine torque, paired with a slight reduction in mass.
- Porsche 911 GT3 R (992): Sees an increase in aerodynamic drag but receives a boost in engine torque and a mass reduction.
- Ford Mustang GT3: Faced an increase in mass and a reduction in engine torque to bring it closer to its competitors.
- Nissan GTP ZXT: Received significant mechanical updates, including improved brake cooling for better stability and adjusted tire grip levels.
Track Updates
Minor but crucial fixes were applied to two American circuits. At Bristol Motor Speedway, a pit road issue that could reset driver settings has been fixed. Meanwhile, at Long Beach, brake markers have been properly re-secured to the catch fences, ensuring visual consistency for drivers hitting their marks.
This update reinforces iRacing’s commitment to providing the most balanced and technically sound sim racing experience as the 2026 season progresses.
