iRacing has just released the 2026 Season 2 Patch 2, focusing on additional updates, improvements, and various fixes for the current season. We have separated the main highlights so you can stay on top of everything that has changed on the virtual tracks!

Physics and New BoP (Balance of Performance) Limits

The update brought significant changes to the Balance of Performance settings. Now, the Engine Power Adjustment can be set to values greater than 100%, allowing you to increase the car’s power between 90% and 110% of its original engine power.

Furthermore, the Vehicle Weight Adjustment now supports negative values, allowing the vehicle’s mass to be decreased. The new allowable weight range goes from -50Kg to +250Kg relative to the original vehicle weight. These new features apply to Official Series and Sessions, and are also available for Test and Hosted Sessions. The team noted that the ability to select negative weights while creating Hosted Sessions will be added shortly.

Improved Artificial Intelligence

For those who enjoy racing offline, the AI received special attention:

  • Better opening laps: AI drivers now better handle tire and surface temperature changes throughout the course of their first laps.
  • Fixes in qualifying and results: An issue where AI drivers failed to post qualifying times if the player advanced the event too quickly has been resolved. Additionally, an error in lap counting that resulted in an underestimation of laps completed by the AI—which occurred when a player quit a Solo race between the green and checkered flags—has been fixed.
  • Track specific: AI racing skills have been improved at The Milwaukee Mile circuit.

User Interface (UI) and Graphics

For the Throttle/Brake UI Widget, a new “Graph Length” option has been added that supports up to 30 seconds of playback time, along with an option for horizontal lines to make reading telemetry values easier.

The graphics team also solved the curious case of “vampiric rain,” which was not appearing in mirrors. Full resolution “Low Res” particle smoke effects also had their Z-sorting issues corrected.

Car and Track Updates

Several cars and tracks received precise adjustments:

  • TCR Cars: Incorrect power scaling that was being applied at the Nürburgring Nordschleife configurations was removed. Also, an animation issue with a female driver’s hands not correctly rotating with the paddle shifters in the Honda Civic Type R TCR was fixed.
  • Damage and “Meatball” Flag: In the Audi 90 GTO and the Nissan GTP ZXT, players will no longer earn the dreaded Meatball Flag based solely on bodywork damage.
  • Street Stocks (Asphalt and Dirt): Roof durability has been increased. In the patch notes, the developers even left a humorous reminder for the asphalt version: “No comment on why this was needed other than a reminder to keep the wheels on the ground, folks”.
  • Visibility and Textures (Tracks): At Sebring, the draw distance for environmental objects like flags and bridges was increased to prevent them from popping into view. In St. Petersburg, some advertisements and specular texture maps were corrected, while Nürburgring had some additional purple hues removed from the track surface. At Mount Panorama, an issue where the garage on pit road could disappear was fixed.

Finally, the Paint Kit also received updated Fanatec sponsor logos.

Prepare your setup, adjust your BoP, and see you on the track!
