iRacing Season 4 Brings Aston Martin Valkyrie, Rebuilt Tracks, and New Physics Engine

iRacing published its August 2026 Development Update on Thursday, detailing what is coming in Season 4. Described by the development team as one of the most massive releases of the year, the update introduces the highly anticipated Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR-LMH, complete ground-up rebuilds of three classic circuits, a revolutionary multithreaded physics engine, and major steps toward the sim’s new single-player Career Mode and next-generation graphics engine.

Rebuilt Tracks and New Configurations

Season 4 delivers three complete, from-the-ground-up rebuilds based on brand-new 2026 laser scans.

  • Road America: A partner since iRacing’s 2008 launch, the “Spa of North America” has been completely rebuilt and now features two brand-new configurations (East and West) utilizing the Turn 5 bypass road.
  • Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course: Fully recreated to capture the track’s thrilling, sweeping elevation changes and technical limits.
  • Milwaukee Mile: The legendary one-mile oval receives a massive visual overhaul and debuts a brand-new “Road” circuit configuration, bringing a classic Roval-style layout to the sim.

Owners of these existing track packages will receive the new scans automatically at no extra cost.

Additionally, two major track refreshes are coming: Summit Point Raceway (including the Jefferson Circuit) has been rebuilt from scratch with new models, textures, and foliage, while Road Atlanta receives new asphalt textures, 3D curbs, and upgraded scenery just in time for the Petit Le Mans.

Aston Martin Valkyrie Leads Massive Car Lineup

The undisputed headliner of the car roster is the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR-LMH. Developed over the course of a year, iRacing secured rare telemetry, real-world chassis data, and direct engineering collaboration to ensure the hypercar’s complex V12 power, extreme downforce, and intricate dynamics are perfectly replicated without any physics shortcuts.

Other major car additions and updates include:

  • Caterham Academy & 420R: Sold as a bundle, the Academy offers lightweight, slipstream-heavy pack racing (Class D), while the 420R delivers a high-power, precision-demanding experience (Class C).
  • Mazda MX-5: A complete bumper-to-bumper re-engineering featuring enhanced suspension kinematics, the latest tire and damage models, and improved draft aerodynamics.
  • Gen 4 Grand National: Added for free to the Gen 4 Cup package (which drops its “Legacy” tag and price), complete with its own official series and an updated drafting model.
  • Pavement Sprint Car: A total front-to-rear rebuild featuring increased power, the newest tire model, overhauled suspension geometry, and 1:1 garage adjustment limits matching the 2026 real-world rulebook.

“Physics Islands”: Multithreading and Multi-Class Starts

At the core of the simulator, iRacing has achieved a major architectural milestone dubbed “Physics Islands.” By refactoring and multithreading the core physics loop, CPU overhead in heavy traffic, full-field races, and large AI grids drops by 50% or more. This ensures rock-solid frame stability and paves the way for higher physics tick rates and faster force feedback in the future.

Furthermore, true Multi-Class Starts are entering a soft launch. The new Race Control system deploys dedicated pace cars for each class, maintaining authentic safety gaps and throwing independent green flags for every category. This feature will be fully supported in the official IMSA series.

Next-Gen UI, VFX, and Weather Testing

Powered by the new Sim UI engine, Season 4 introduces several quality-of-life upgrades:

  • Pit Summary: Real-time visibility into pit stop durations, damage assessments, and exact pit stall location indicators.
  • Visual Damage UI: An opt-in, color-coded graphical overlay showing the practical extent of car damage.
  • Reference Car UI: Live driver input overlays attached to ghost cars in Time Trial and Test Drive modes.
  • Quick Settings: A modernized, streamlined replacement for the legacy F9 black box.
  • Shifting Feedback & Pinned Mode: Visual indicators for successful/mis-shifts and the ability to pin specific telemetry UI elements on screen.

The update also fully migrates smoke and particle effects to the modern VFX engine, making burnouts and dirt effects look more authentic than ever. Additionally, iRacing is testing targeted weather re-rolls (per-race and per-race-day) and higher rain-probability forecasts in select series.

Career Mode: “Technologically Complete”

One of the community’s most requested features, the single-player Career Mode, is now “technologically complete” and in the final polish phase. Designed to let players climb from grassroots racing to the pinnacle of motorsport, the mode will launch with seven unique careers, realistic progression paths, objectives, and global leaderboards.

Crucially, Career Mode is included with the standard iRacing subscription. Cars and tracks will automatically unlock as players advance through their career ladder, requiring zero extra purchases to experience the full game. Features like Save Game and dynamic career events are already mapped out for post-launch updates.

New Graphics Engine and Future Scans

iRacing’s upcoming graphics engine is making huge strides with Physically Based Lighting (PBL). For the first time, full grids will be able to race on tracks with true, physically accurate night lighting—from the string lights of the Nordschleife to the glowing garages of Le Mans. The engine also introduces a texture-streaming system to drastically reduce RAM usage.

Behind the scenes, track scanning continues at a rapid pace. The Circuit Bugatti scan is complete, Paul Ricard is underway, and teams are scheduled to visit Circuit Paul Armagnac (France) and Circuit Ricardo Tormo (Spain).

Beyond the Sim

Outside of the core simulator, iRacing confirmed that standalone title NASCAR 26 has officially passed certification and will launch on September 18th. iRacing Arcade has successfully hit consoles with four-player split-screen, and the standalone INDYCAR title remains on track for a Spring 2027 release.

Season 4 of iRacing is expected to deploy and begin in mid-September 2026, following the simulator’s standard quarterly build cycle.
