iRacing has just released Patch 4 for the 2026 Season 2, bringing a series of technical tweaks and fixes to some curious “bugs” aimed at improving simulator stability and racing accuracy.
🛠️ Tech and UI Highlights
One of the most notable changes for NVidia GPU users is the new Windows Security pop-up. This is happening as a result of preparations for the upcoming Apple Vision Pro device support. If you do not have nor intend to use the device, you can simply ignore the request after installation.
Additionally, crash-to-desktop issues when advancing to the next session and visual glitches where the Weather Radar displayed incorrect track map dimensions have been fixed.
🏎️ Race Control and AI
The famous “Fred”, our Pace Car driver, went through some training! The issue where he would speed out of the pits at an unrealistic velocity and pick up the wrong lead car in AI sessions has been fixed. Other fixes include:
- End of the “Ghost Tow”: Fixed a rare bug that could cause a driver who had been black-flagged for a connection quality issue to potentially gain a lap on the field.
- Human-AI Symbiosis: Resolved the issue where session hosts could temporarily “embody” an AI driver upon connecting.
📍 Watkins Glen International
The Watkins Glen circuit received special attention in this patch:
- Racing Line: AI drivers now have an improved racing line in the “Boot” section.
- Track Limits: New track rules at the Bus Stop entry (4 tires off = 1x) and a slowdown penalty for going half-a-car past the middle curb’s left edge.
- Restart Zone: The restart zone has been removed.
Technical Note: The raceline toggle keybind (Ctrl+Alt+L) can now also be used in Replay mode!
Keep your simulator updated to ensure the best competitive experience. See you on the track!
