Kunos Simulazioni will release Update 0.6 for Assetto Corsa EVO, one of the largest patches since the title entered Early Access on Steam. The update delivers six new cars, a brand-new track, and sweeping technical changes that fundamentally alter how the simulator behaves — across physics, multiplayer, and artificial intelligence.

What’s New in Update 0.6

The content package is diverse and spans multiple racing categories. Joining the GT3 grid are the Ferrari 296 GT3 and the Ford Mustang GT3, significantly strengthening the competitive lineup. Classic car fans receive the Ferrari 288 GTO and the Lamborghini Countach LP5000 QV, two iconic machines from the 1980s. The Porsche 992 GT3 R Rennsport — the extreme track-only variant of the 992 — and the Audi R8 LMS GT4 Evo round out the roster.

The new track is Sebring International Raceway, the historic American endurance circuit famous for its notoriously bumpy surface and the legendary 12 Hours of Sebring. Alongside its addition, Kunos has included revised AI lines for both Sebring and Mount Panorama, as well as visual updates to the Nürburgring for the 2026 season.

Why the 0.6 Physics Update Changes Everything

The most technically substantial part of the update lies in its physics engine. The suspension model has undergone a structural overhaul: the simulator now models coilover direction within the suspension wishbones, supports front multilink strut suspension, and calculates scrub radius, roll center and pitch center in real time. The bumpstop logic has been completely rebuilt across all cars — the threaded collar position now directly influences the bumpstop engagement window, meaningfully affecting how setups are tuned and how the car behaves at the limit.

On the tire side, the most important change is the new triangular contact patch model, which resolves the tire sinking issue that affected certain sections of the Nürburgring. Race compound stiffness has been increased, wet tires have been rebuilt with a nonlinear spring model, and the thermal model received corrections in its IMO temperature layer. To lower the barrier for casual drivers, all cars now default to the fastest available tire compound automatically.

Multiplayer, AI and Audio: Three Fronts Rebuilt

The netcode has been rewritten from the ground up, delivering better position prediction, more precise timing, and significantly more stable online collisions. A critical crash — which could simultaneously disconnect all clients connected to a server — has been fixed. CPU performance has also improved on both server and client sides.

The AI received an entirely new track-modeling system, replacing the previous one outright. The new system is notably more accurate in sections with elevation changes, compressions, and crests — areas where the previous AI visibly struggled. The AI has also been tuned to be slightly more aggressive in wheel-to-wheel battles.

On the audio front, four cars received fully remixed soundsets built using a new production approach: the BMW M3 E46 CSL, Honda NSX, Porsche 718 GT4 RS, and Porsche 992 GT3 RS. The highlight is a more accurate reproduction of each engine’s individual tone and car-specific exhaust backfires. A new multichannel audio management system was also implemented, improving the overall sound mix across all scenarios.

What This Update Means for the Sim Racing Scene

Update 0.6 positions Assetto Corsa EVO as an increasingly credible alternative to ACC and iRacing in the PC sim racing segment. The arrival of official MoTeC telemetry support — a tool used by real-world racing engineers — signals that Kunos has its sights set on the more technical audience and the competitive esports community. The first GT3 Balance of Performance pass, while still basic (engine balancing only), marks the beginning of a long-term effort to make competitive online racing viable within the title.

With a more robust physics foundation and a growing roster of cars and tracks, Assetto Corsa EVO appears to be steadily closing in on the threshold required to leave Early Access — no release date has been announced yet, but each update is taking longer and more deliberate strides in that direction.
